BIO
Jake focuses his practice on civil litigation and legal services to small businesses. As a litigator, Jake is patient, determined, quick-thinking, and always strives to anticipate, out-prepare, and out-maneuver the opposition. As a business attorney, Jake is well apprised of the numerous pitfalls and legal dangers that await small businesses, particularly those businesses that are growing to add new partners and employees.
Jake graduated near the top of his class while in law school despite working three jobs and being a father to three children at the time. Jake prides himself on constant clear communication with his clients to make sure that they understand the status of their legal matters and the costs associated with those matters.
ISABEL CARSON, ESQ.
BIO
Isabel is a litigator with a passion for pursuing justice. After graduating near the top of her class in law school, she moved back to her beloved western North Carolina, where she has spent several years serving the individuals and businesses of the region, first as a rural general practitioner, as an Assistant District Attorney, and then as a public interest attorney with Pisgah Legal Services. As a partner at Asheville Legal, Isabel handles a variety of civil litigation and small business matters. Her tenacity for obtaining results for clients makes her a formidable opponent in the courtroom while maintaining a keen awareness and desire to ensure every opportunity for an outcome is explored.
Isabel hails from south central Virginia but has called the mountains of Western North Carolina her home since attaining her Bachelor’s degree from UNC Asheville. When she is not advocating for clients, she spends her time exploring the natural settings of the region with her family and fellow hiking enthusiasts. Mike Wimer is a civil trial attorney and the firm’s chief legal strategist. He focuses his practice on complex trial matters with substantial issues of law, damages, and where large numbers of people are adversely affected. During his nearly three decades as a litigator, he has tried jury cases involving bad faith insurance claims, construction disputes, commercial contract cases, partnership disputes, employment law, personal injury, and many other areas of civil practice.
Mike has the stamina, fortitude, and passion to stay the course in complex cases where the adversary is often a large corporation and a big law firm with unlimited resources. As proof, one of his class actions was recently settled after almost eight years of litigation. It takes a unique law firm and a special breed of lawyer to pursue complex litigation against the nation’s largest corporations, banks, and other well-financed defendants. Mike is a tireless advocate and believes that absolute justice is the ultimate goal for every client, even if that means his firm may sometimes have to wait years to get paid for their legal work.
